Monday night supper at the Coal Tower
Even in the summer, on Monday the BEARS continue to join for supper at 6:00 at the Coal Tower Restaurant on Schoen Place next to the canal in Pittsford. Becky seats our group outside on the patio if it's nice. We have a good time. Some guys feed the ducks, some walk the canal, and some hit a movie after. It's a good way to meet some of the guys and catch up. We talk politics, business, news, and gossip. Join us.
Gay Pride
The Empire Bears hope to have a presence this year in Rochester's Gay Pride. The parade is Saturday, July 18th, starting at 4:00. We're trying to figure out if we have enough people available to march that afternoon.
Sunday, July 19th we plan to have a table in the groups' pavilion at the picnic. Look for us there. We hope to raffle off a big bear as a fundraiser for our brother bear Gerry, who has been laid up. We'll also have some pamphlets and be able to answer questions about the club.

Camping with the Empire Bears
This summer, the Empire Bears have reserved a site at Hillside Campgrounds in PA for:
Bears 2, June 26-28, and Bears 3, August 28-30. It is a group site with room for a number of tents and campers, too. We usually bring a large awning to set up in case of rain. The club generally provides paper and plastic goods for members attending, and assigns those coming to bring food items and help with the cooking and clean-up for 1 meal. We are now taking reservations from members for our site. You can contact us throug www.empirebears.org.
Members with extra room for a tent or two have also reserved a site at Jones Pond for their Bear 2, July 24-26 and for Labor Day weekend.
There are members of the Empire Bears who have seasonal sites at Hillside, Oneida (its sister campground in the same town in northern PA, just south of Binghamton off Rte. 81), and Jones Pond Campground near Short Track, west of Rte 390. They would all encourage you to try out their campground for a weekend. Have a great summer.

Hair
Hair
Hair everwhere
Hair that is where it shouldn't be there
Hair in my ears
Hair in my nose
Hair on the top of my crooked little toes
Hair on my back
Hair on my sack
Hair in my teeth 'cause I went on attack
Hair on my neck
Hair in my bed
Why isn't there more hair on my head?
Hair on my shoulders
Hair on my butt
Good thing my husband likes hair (he's a nut)

EMPIRE BEARS
What's a bear club for? What's a bear club do? Why join?
The Empire Bears provide a safe place for men just coming out to meet other men. It's a place where men with issues of weight, age, or self image can feel safe and nurtured. It's a place in which men who've never touched other men before can hug, kiss, rub a belly, or give a neck or back rub, and not feel threatened or ashamed. It's friends to join for dinner, movies, bowling, theater, concerts, hockey, lacrosse, and a ball game. It's guys getting together to play games and cards. It's singing "Happy Birthday" to a new friend at our Monday night supper. It's congratulating old friends who went to Massachusetts to marry. It's buddies to stay with at gay campgrounds 'cause they've got a site or an extra bed on a busy weekend. It's a chance to join with other men to raise funds and donations for causes such as cancer and diabetes research, AIDS, the GAGV and its archives and youth projects, Image Out, kids in hospitals, the RGMC, and other causes we've supported. It's a network of guys you can count on to be supportive and even sometimes helpful when you need it.
Yes, the EMPIRE BEARS is a social group for men who want to meet and hang out with other men who self identify as Bears, but we're much more. Our members range in age from 20s to 70s, size M to XXXL, smooth to sasquatch. We're happy, accepting, having fun, and want you to have a good time, too. Check us out at http://www.empirebears.org/.
Join us on the first Saturday of any month at the BACHELOR FORUM for Bearnight. Show off some fur and rub tummies with some hot men. There'll be food, fun, frolics, and a raffle.
On the second Saturdays of the month, the Empire Bears host their famous potluck at the GAGV Youth Center, first floor of the Memorial Aud on E Main at 6:30. Each month, September through May, we have a different food theme. Bring a dish to share and we do the rest. Come early, parking's free- just say you're there for the GAGV.
Every Monday, you'll find the Empire Bears at The Coal Tower diner on Schoen Place next to the canal in Pittsford at 6:00. We have supper and laughs, and are served by the best waitress in New York. Becky says, "Hi!"
See ya around town.
